About SEF International Microfinance Institution
The Micro Enterprise Development programme started in 1997 as a part of World Vision’s sustainable development approach to create job opportunities for the poor in Armenia.
To carry out a full-range of credit activities through urban and rural branches in Armenia, World Vision International founded SEF International in 1998. Currently SEF International is owned by VisionFund International – a subsidiary of WVI specialized in microfinance.
Since 2003 SEF is licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Republic of Armenia. Currently SEF is operating through two branches in Yerevan, branch offices in Gyumri, Sisian, Armavir, Artashat, Talin, Goris, Ijevan,Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Kapan, Yeghegnadzor, Masis, Ejmiatsin and Meghri. The majority of SEF clients are located in the poorest rural communities.

SEF International received CGAP Financial Transparency Merit Awards for 2005 and 2006.
In 2006 SEF International received a BB+ rating from an independent microfinance consultancy firm Microfinanza. In 2007, the rating was improved to BBB-. In 2010 SEF received a BBB- stable rating, and its first social rating of BBB.
In 2013 MIX Market awarded SEF International as a S.T.A.R. (Socially Transparent And Responsible) organization for meeting all requirements.
The 226 members of our motivated team are experienced professionals. SEF’s management continuosly promotes and contributes to the development of their employees.
We provide loans for farmers, sole proprietors and small enterprises, renovation and consumer loans. Our free financial consultancy, quick loan application processing and flexible loan conditions are aimed to guide the client to responsible borrowing, developing the business, improving household economy, creating healthy and sustainable lives for families and children.
From a social impact perspective SEF has been delivering visible results throughout its history. In total SEF has extended more than 29,3 billion AMD in loans to more than 72,000 clients, created and sustained more than 63,000 jobs and affected around 108,000 children.
Currently the organisation has more than 17,000 customers. The portfolio is more than 6,7 billion AMD.
